Report: 12-01-2013 – Mens 1st’s (4) vs. (2) L.A.Carngie 2nd’s

January 17, 2013 by Slazenger HC

Slaz began a bit rough and Adel put pressure on the defence creating difficulty to get the ball out of our half. Both teams created chances that could have put some early goals on the sheets, but Adel where the side to get the ball in the goal. Slaz came back hard and got one back with good running on the wing from Dan Perry, and drive near the D from Jack Mumford.

Mark Swindon used the space they created to drive into the D and hammer home a goal, however Adel got the next before half time.

Slaz’s half time talk was for more from everyone.

The team moved the ball round better and created more space and time for our midfield, Mark Swindon again striving through and Dan Perry sealed the deal with a tap in.

Robin Brearton and Mark Swallow had solid games at the back. Mark Swallow got man of the match for his goals and strong play in midfield. Slaz finished strong and scored 2 goals later on in the second half to wrap the game up with 4 goals to Adel’s 2.

Report: 17-11-2012 – Mens 2nd’s (2) vs. (0) L.A. Carnegie 4th’s

November 22, 2012 by Slazenger HC

Slsz 2nd team travelled to Leeds Adel Carnegie 6s and came away with all three points with a 2-0 win. It should have been an easy win for Slaz, who were top place before match and Leeds mid table, but it was far from easy.

Slaz dominated the start of the first half but after they missed a penalty flick their heads seemed to drop and Leeds edged their way back into the game.

The second half started as the first had ended with both teams battling but both unable to take control of the game. It was a well worked short corner from slaz that broke the dead lock. Man of the match Paul Johnson slipped the ball to his right and Byron Dean returned the pass for Johnson to hit home.

Leeds head’s dropped and slaz took control. A second goal soon came from Jake Barras who netted from a Rob Whawell cross. Next week Slaz 2s are at home to Sheffield Hallam 6’s.

Report: 03-11-2012 – Ladies 2nd’s (0) vs. (3) L.A.Carnegie 3rd’s

November 8, 2012 by Slazenger HC

After a losing streak, tactical mastermind coach Jonny White had come up with the perfect solution to Slazenger’s problems. Today was the day to try the coach’s new formation; with captain Nez switching to her new role, leading the team from a centre forward position.
From the start Slaz where switched on like light bulbs and causing Adel problems; who had spent their warm up time sat in the changing rooms rather than on the pitch. There was some excellent passing, including several impressive 3D passes from Elle Poskett and player of the match Julie Finch. But it was the same story again for Slaz who failed to score, and a break from Adel just before half time made it 1-0 to the away team.

Clearly inspired by the team talk, Slaz started the second half well; creating many chances that required good saves from the Adel keeper. Natasha Wiper and Stacey Binns came close to scoring but it was another frustrating afternoon for the ladies. Adel soon made it 2-0 after the ball was cleared by the defence straight to attack.

Despite a strong second half display, Slaz couldn’t pull any goals back and Adel went onto score a 3rd late on, making it 3-0 this was whilst Slazenger’s were pushing forward to try and score. However it needs to be said that the score did not reflect the game. Slaz were defiantly the better side and all it will take for this side to become a great side is a win and given the many positives taken from the performance the ladies will build on this for ready for a win next week on their visit to York.

Report: 06-10-2012 – Mens 1st’s (6) vs. (0) Leeds Adel Carnegie 2nd’s

October 15, 2012 by Slazenger HC

The game set off at a fast pace with both teams looking to gain the edge, both teams pressured the ball well in the opposition half.

It wasn’t until slaz used their first sub that the tides turned with Jimmy Swinden setting Richard Tuddenham for his first goal. A few minutes later a second went in. Adel were not out of the game yet and still created good movement around the pitch. Slaz began to get some space and moved the ball round well with Mark Swindon been the play maker in midfield.

Slaz’s youngest player Robin Brearton came on in midfield to provide excellent support to the midfield which earned him man of the match ahead of most of the team that had a 1st class game.

Simon Chamberlain provided the calming influence and slotted in a flick. Jimmy Swinden claimed a further 2 goals and Richard Tuddenham got a second to make the final score 6-0 for a fine team performance from Slaz that created so many chances, possession and use of the pitch space.
