Slazenger got off to a great start, with their enterprising play too much for Bradford. Slaz were wheezing the ball rounf the back of the Bradford defence continually and creating quick chances up the wing from the off and they went into an early 8th minute lead when Alec Colston netted. Halftime changes turned things around for Slazenger seconds who defeated Bradford's third string 4-1. Walker and man of the match Sykes eased Slazenger clear after the break while midfielders Swinden and Grange laid the foundations for Sykes' second. Slazenger shrugged off their start disadvantage of being down to ten men to take an early lead through Mark Butel - a score that put the Horbury men on course for a 3-1 win over Bradford seconds.
