Slazenger gained three victories from their five matches in a Boys U12s hockey tournament at Leeds on Sunday. Despite having the majority of possession in the opening game against York B, Slazengers failed to cash in but Isaac Fisher cooly scored after excellent work by man of the tournament Jack Kitchen, who beat three defenders before putting in a telling pass, to win 1-0. Slazenger 4ths are a much-changed team this season, but the blend of youth and experience worked well against a strong Bradford side. Two well-matched teams played some good, open hockey and Slazenger passed the ball well from the start with youngsters Phil Midgley and Alex McCann unfortunate not to score from some of their early efforts. Slazenger went two goals astray in the opening ten minutes from this disastrous start.The visitors eventually found their feet but failed to find their usual fluid style. In fact, Slazenger conceded a third goal before Marcus Taylor's battling midfield display rekindled Slazenger's spirits. Dominant Slazenger return to winning ways with a convincing victory at Bradford. Slazenger always looked the stronger team and they took the lead through man of the match James Swinden who produced a reverse-stick following a slick build-up.
