Boys

Report: 14-11-2004 – Boys U12’s

November 14, 2004 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger U12 Boys look set for promotion to the top division for their next tournament after a successful round of matches in the Yorkshire Youth League at Leeds Metro University last Sunday.

In the first match Chris Wood scored the only goal to defeat Harrogate 1-0, but in their second match, Slaz lost by a similar score to Sheffield.

They then dominated the third match against Rotherham but despite creating numerous chances the game finished goalless.

The fourth match was one of two halves as former Slaz goalie Jack Mumford played in the outfield and scored the only goal to sink Doncaster, with Mumfords replacement Adam Davies producing some brilliant saves in goal.

The final game was hard and physical with big hitting from both sides and looked on course for a draw until Mumford’s late winner

Report: 31-10-2004 – Boys U10’s Tournament

October 31, 2004 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger U10’s traveled to York to take part in a tournament at Huntington School and returned home with two wins and three draws from their five matches.

Slazenger began the first of five matches with probably their strongest six to take on York’s B team and scoring in the opening minutes through Daniel Perry.

Jake Barras soon made this two with his first goal of the season to seal the win.

The second game against Wakefield was more even and the Horbury club took the lead when Ailish Hendry threaded the ball through to Henry Moore who then pushed the ball into the Wakefield D where Perry tapped it in.

Henry Moore made the game safe with a Slazenger goal.

The third game against Normanby Park looked like ending in defeat after a real end-to-end battle, but Barras managed to secure two points with an equaliser in the dying seconds.

The final two games against Ben Rhydding C and Chapeltown B finished goalless.

Report: 17-10-2004 – Boys U14’s

October 17, 2004 by Slazenger HC

This was the U14 first tournament day of the season.

Slazengers set out with three players short but still turned out with the hope of borrowing players. We did manage to borrow players from both Leeds and Doncaster, thanks to all those lads. We also had three new players Aled, Robert and Adam all of whom have only being playing a matter of weeks, but they held their own and played well.

Slazengers pulled well together with lots of positive encouragement from their Captain Jermane Cockerill in midfield. Slazenger’s only goal of the tournament came from a well worked piece of work by Kayleigh Ventom to leave Alex cook to tap the ball home into the net. Tessa Downs had a great game in goals and Philip Midgley over came a nasty knock on the ankle to complete the last game and again worked well.

Slazenger’s final results for the day were that we won one, lost one, and drew one.

March 2, 2003 by Slazenger HC

SLAZENGER Boys U16;s continued to make good progress in the Yorkshire Youth League at the weekend.

A tough first match against top side Rotherham ended 2-0 in the South Yorkshire side’s favour, but the goals came late and Neil Hutchins and Eddie Richardson spearheaded an outstanding Slazenger defensive display.

Slazenger hit back in the second game to defeat Bradford 1-0 thanks to a Richard Hutchins strike.

Tiredness told in game three, but dogged determination ensured Slazengers gained credit from a goal-less-draw with Driffield.
