Slazenger girls under 14's secured promotion to league 6 with fantastic team performances on Sunday. Slazengers dominated in both their games, demonstrating great supportive play with movement on and off the ball. Pre tournament team talks centred (amongst other things) around the need to score goals as promotion had previously been denied when a better goal difference would have been enough. The girls did not disappoint scoring 3 in the first game against Huddersfield with goals from Leah … [Read more...] about Report: 25-01-2015 – Girls U14’s Tournament (Brigshaw)
Report: 25-01-2015 – Boys U10’s
Unlucky Slazengers missed out on top spot on goal difference in the latest Yorkshire Youth Hockey League under-ten boys seven-a-side tournament. The youngsters beat old foes Ben Rhydding for the first time this season but finished behind them in the League A table after losing to Leeds, who also closed on the same number of points in third place. A hat-trick by Alex Stacey enabled Slazengers to open with a 3-0 victory over Doncaster, before Tommy Randle and Will Gascoigne scored in a 2-0 win … [Read more...] about Report: 25-01-2015 – Boys U10’s
Report: 24-01-2015 – Mens 1st’s (4) vs. (2) Lincoln 1st’s
Slazengers men's 1st traveled away to Lincoln and picked up a good three points, even thought their performance was not at their usual high tempo. As Slazengers were feeling comfortable with a 2 goal lead, Lincoln dominated play and equalised with 2 goals before the … [Read more...] about Report: 24-01-2015 – Mens 1st’s (4) vs. (2) Lincoln 1st’s
Report: 24-01-2015 – Mens 2nd’s (3) vs. (1) City of York 4th’s
Slazengers second team welcomed unbeaten league leaders City of York Mens 4's on Saturday and put in arguably their best performance of the season to record a solid 3-1 win. York had won their previous 13 games so were always going to be tough opposition but Slazengers started with intensity refusing to allow York time to settle on the ball. Both teams had early chances but it was Slazengers who broke the deadlock when good work from Dan Atkinson down the right found Simon Randall on the … [Read more...] about Report: 24-01-2015 – Mens 2nd’s (3) vs. (1) City of York 4th’s
Report: 24-01-2015 – Mens 3rd’s (2) vs. (3) Doncaster 4th’s
Slazenger Mens 3rd's narrowly missed out on 3 points, losing out 3-2 to a well drilled doncaster side. The home team started brightly, showing impressive form and a lead within minutes of the start. John Sykes scored the opening goal, followed closely by a second well inside the first half. Doncaster pulled a goal back before half time but against the run of play. In the second half, Slazenger continued to press, looking to increase their lead, however it was Doncaster who broke against the … [Read more...] about Report: 24-01-2015 – Mens 3rd’s (2) vs. (3) Doncaster 4th’s
