Report: 11-09-1999 – Mens 3rd’s (4) vs (0) Harrogate 4th’s

September 11, 1999 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger thirds eventually ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Harrogate’s fourth string.

But they didnt achieve their goal without having to dig deep in an energy-sapping contest.

Young goalkeeper Thomas Panistone pulled off some fine saves to keep Slazenger in the game early on.

Slazenger got on top in the last 15 minutes and scored goals through Richard Tuddenham, the impressive Richard Whawell and man of the match Paul Wiper (2).

Harrogate scored their late consolation goall off a penalty flick.

On Saturday, Slazenger thirds travel to Bradford.

Report: 11-09-1999 – Mens 2nd’s (0) vs (3) Harrogate 3rd’s

September 11, 1999 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger seconds returned to ‘astro’ with a bump being thumped 3-0 by harrogate thirds.

Slazenger absorbed so much pressure in the first half that it was inevitable that something would have to give. But man of the match John Bagshaw overcame early injury fears to keep the half-time deficit down to a single goal.

Graham and Swinden worked well together in midfield in the second half. Slazenger played well in spurts though the 3-0 scoreline suggests a tough season ahead.

Slazenger entertain Bradford on Saturday, start 1.30pm.

Report: 11-09-1999 – Mens 1st’s (4) vs (0) Sheffield Uni Bankers 1st’s

September 11, 1999 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger first XI’s pre-season friendly with the newly-combined Sheffield University and Sheffield Bankers proved a real humdinger.

Slazenger won it 4-0 but had to be patient and wait for a decisive move by Matthew Birkett to break the deadlock.

Kaye converted the second and further pressure eventually led to a third for Jonny White.

Haydn Foster was rewarded for his sterling effort throughout the match with Slazenger’s fourth goal.

Report: 13-03-1999 – Mens 2nd’s (2) vs. (2) Dinnington 1st’s

March 13, 1999 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger Seconds failed to hit top form on grass at Dinnington, but did enough to secure three points with a 2-2 draw and with it Yorkshire League Promotion.

Slazenger took the lead with a well-worked Mark Swinden goal, but Dinnington hit back to level before the break and nosed in front with a second just after the interval.

The visitors threw everything into the attack midway through the second half, a tactic that paid off with equalising goal for Graham Parker.

Slazenger seconds entertain Huddersfield Fourths on Saturday, 4:30pm.
