Report: 13-11-1999 – Mens 1st’s (2) vs. (1) Airedale 1st’s

November 13, 1999 by Slazenger HC

A double strike from Butel lined up Slazenger for an impressive eight match unbeaten run.

Slazenger defeated Airdale firsts 2-1, but it wasn’t all plain sailing and Slazenger’s nonchalant start could have cost them points.

Airedale went a goal up on the back of their early pressure, but this seemed to be just the wake-up call Slazenger needed.

And Butel, Wiper and Kaye proceeded to run Airedale ragged.

Butel scored in each half off well-struck short corners. Man of the match went to Dave Hellam who sealed viectory with a quick-reaction top-drawer save from a well-struck, up-close under-cut shot towards the end of the match.

Slazenger entertain David Brown on Saturday, 1:30pm.
