Sunday saw Slazengers mens first team in the semi final of the league cup against unbeaten higher league opposition in Leeds mens second team. On Sunday, Slazenger Boys U14 travelled to Huntington School with a 16 strong squadWith 5 spare players, we were able to help out Leeds/Adel who had only 9. Alex King & Nathan Archer went on loan throughout the day so that they both got plenty of game practice, impressing the Leeds coach with their enthusiasm and skill. The game was scrappy throughout with Slazengers struggling to play the fluent hockey they have been playing this year and it was left to the quick thinking of Jack Kitchen to open the scoring with an excellent reverse stick strike after the Leeds defense seemed to stand still expecting a whistle. Slazenger hosted Wakefield 6ths in a match full of thrills and spills. Unfortunately the heated local derby ended with a loss for the hosts, going down 3 -1.Slazenger took to the field in high spirits, with unproven keeper Dan Perry stepping up on short notice to fill the pads of regular goalie Tom Stephenson.
