Slazenger's first league game since the Christmas break was a spirited affair against Barnsley. Both teams were evenly matched. Barnsley enjoyed some early possession and quickly converted that pressure into a goal. Slazenger did respond to the set back and tried to start playing some quick, passing hockey. Report: 15-01-2011 – Ladies 1st’s (2) vs. (1) Wakefield 3rd’s

Both teams went into this game with nerves with it being the first game since November due to to weather cancellations and the fact that it was a local derby. Slazengers dominated the game from the off showing why they were top of the Yorkshire Premier league and kept possession putting pressure on the Wakefield defense. The Hibernation is over…for the time being
