Slazenger Mens 3's finally got there season up and running with a deserved victory against Garforth 1's. Playing away against a team that in recent seasons has proved tough opposition it was the Horbury team that started the brightest, playing Byron Dean and James Walker up front, with good assistance from Luke Gueli and Ian Hedges on the wings. Slazenger started strong in their first ever cup game. The midfield was controlled well by Hetty Walker and Emma Claughton and Slazenger were unlucky to go down 0-1. Slazenger had some well worked attacking changes but were unable to score. SUBHC scored once more. 'Lets slay some dragons...........’ To say this was the second game of the weekend for the Slazenger's Ladies 3s, the team went out with determination and showed off some 'dragon slaying' skills to win. Slaz began with good ball movement around the pitch pitch but the tempo was not high enough to cause Normanby a problem. Similarly Normanby didn't look strong on the ball but moved forward fast. Slazenger had prepared well for the forthcoming trip to local rivals Huddersfield Dragons with the vast majority of squad members available, however had a significant setback the morning of the trip when Vice Captain Sarah Hobbs dropping out early doors due to food poisoning.
