After their last meeting away at Adel where four goals were scored in the first half alone, to say that Slazenger started as the underdogs in this match was an understatement! To the surprise of some of the home crowd, Slaz began very strongly with good distribution and Hannah Field making some excellent leading runs. Unfortunately a short corner was given away early in the first half, which Adel converted. Nevertheless the home side did not give in, they kept fighting and were were unlucky to score prior to half time when the score remained 1-0.
In the half time talk Slaz spoke about keeping possession and putting high balls up to the forwards and this plan was carried out to the letter. Barely into the half, Katie Browne put a fantastic ball to striker Sarah Cooper who finished with great style. Frustratingly, Adel came back quickly and scored again to make it 2-1. Still not prepared to give up, Slazenger converted a fanatastic top corner goal without taking a touch, Sarah Cooper again putting the ball in the back of the net to equalize.
Although not having all the attacking chances, Adel were very strong on the break and managed to put 2 more goals away finishing the game on a 4-2 result, not a score that represented the game.
