Slazenger went to Halifax looking to avenge their 0-6 home loss. They looked like a completely different side as they proceeded to take a 2-0 lead much to the delight of the Slaz spectators who had travelled to support. The first Slaz goal came from Sarah Cooper who got on the end of a great ball in from Amy Smeaton and the second goal was despatched capably by Zoe Smeaton after a goalmouth scramble. This left Halifax somewhat stunned however they stepped up their game again to narrow the score to 2-1 shortly before half time.
Unfortunately the second half saw Halifax make a couple of changes which strengthened their attack and enabled them to get an early equaliser. Despite valiant efforts from the Slaz defence and Goalie Eleanor Townend and with player of the match Lisa Minchella having to go off injured, they were unable to hold the home team to a draw and eventually allowed the Halifax winner to be scored.
A disappointing end to a match that Slaz deserved to get something out of and really should have put to bed in the first half. There is no match next week due to a slip date.
