Slazengers mens 2nd team kicked off their league campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Leeds 5th’s but in reality will be disappointed not to take all three points. Due to a variety of reasons, Slazengers were without a number of regular players but started the game at a fast tempo and were immediately on top of the opposition going close on a number of occasions. It was however Leeds who took the lead mid way through the first half taking advantage of a quick breakaway.
Slazengers started the 2nd half pushing forward looking for an equaliser which was delivered from the stick of Ste Roberts deflecting in a Ben Graham shot.
Slazengers continued to press with Aidan Hopkinson, Matt Stacey and Darren Buttery all going close. Any Leeds threats were cancelled out by man of the match Tom Murray making his debut in goal along with a solid back four. Slazengers continued to press to the final whistle but couldn’t find the winner but will look to build on a promising start away to Sheffield Hallam 5ths next Saturday.
