It is with much sadness that we write to inform you that Robert (Bob) France passed away this morning at 7.30am.
Bob had been battling with illness for many years.
He will be remembered in your own thoughts, but for most as the genial giant that we had the pleasure to be served by from behind the bar. Many will have played hockey with Bob at Wakefield HC and Slazenger HC.
We will post the funeral details to the Slazenger Hockey Club website when we know more
Our deepest condolences go out to Mavis and the France family for their loss.

Bob was a wonderful man. Great company and a person who really helped to make the Slazenger bar and clubhouse such a warm place to be.
Wakefield Hc remember Bob for being a hard hitting hard running centre forward who had a keen eye for goal.In this photo he is teamed with Dave Pickering,?? Gerry Kale,Bev Ward back row and Mike Young and Keith Orrell front row as the team prepares for the Wakefield 6s/7s
Thanks for all the wonderful memories and the lovely honey Bob
Brian Beddow says
I got to know Bob when i started work at 15, He was a wonderful man.
I was with him a lot in the 70s. He taught me a lot at work and on the sports fields,
football, cricket, table tennis, he could play anything.
I looked up to him as my hero.
Great memories of great man.
