Slazenger Men’s 2nd Team hosted Doncaster 5s and were expecting a close match against the normally well drilled Doncaster outfit but it turned out to be a big win for Slaz beating the visitors 6-0. Slaz pilled the pressure early on in the game and were rewarded with a goal ten minutes in.
Matt Green passed the ball down the left wing to Simon Randall who ran into the ‘D’ and slotted the ball passed the keeper at his near post. Ten minutes later Slaz scored two more gaols in quick succession. The first came from some quick team passing around the Doncaster ‘D’ and being finished off by a great strike by Matt Middleton. Slaz’s third goal came from a short corner, Matt Green pushed the ball out to Ben Graham who played the back to Matt Green who crossed the ball across the goal for Matt Banks to tap in. Slaz continued to mount the pressure on Doncaster but there were no more goals before half time.
The second half continued were the first left off and slaz were creating chances and soon they had their fourth from another short corner. Robin Whawell pushed the ball out to Ben Graham who slipped the ball left to Anwar Al-Khaili who fired the ball through the keepers legs into the back of the net.
Slaz should have had another but Robin Whawell missed a simple shot at the back post from a great cross from Matt Banks. But soon after slaz had their fifth. Matt Green passed the ball down the left to Robin Whawell who passed to Jake Barras at the top of the ‘D’ who had a shot, which was saved, but Jake showed great determination and drew the ball back out and his second shot went in.
Slaz got their sixth from a great run from man of the match Ben Graham who ran with the ball into the ‘D’, drew out the keeper and unselfishly passed the ball to Simon Randall who tapped the ball in finishing off a great home win for slaz. Credit has to go to Doncaster who did not let their heads drop and carried on playing until the final whistle.
Slaz have their last league match before Christmas next week at home against Sheffield University Bankers 7s.
