Report: 05-11-2011 – Ladies 1st’s (1) vs. (2) Rotherham 1st’s

Slazenger Ladies 1st’s put up a strong fight against high flying Rotherham 1st’s, only to come away with a loss.

Slaz started well, with some well organised offensive play putting Rotherham under pressure. However, it was the away side who struck first; a quick passing manouvre set up a shot, which was saved by the diving Slazenger keeper, however she was unable to stop the followup which was lifted into the net.

The home team redoubled, and put Rotherham under sustained pressure, forcing several short corners. With this level of pessure, it was only a matter of time before they made a mistake, with Ailish Hendry running into the D and a shot which went through several defender to secure the equaliser.

Back at the Slazenger’s end, they were also the subject of several short corners, which in the end gifted Rotherham their second. With time on the clock, a dismissal of a Rotherham defender saw the visitors under pressure as Slaz pushed for the equaliser. However, time ran out with Slazengers unable to claim a second.
