The U10 girls A team took part in the minis hockey tournament on Sunday morning and gave an excellent and enthusiastic performance. Despite being drawn in a group in which all the teams were from higher divisions in the Yorkshire Hockey YHL, the girls were able to up their game and compete as equals.
Slazenger (0) vs. (1) L.A.Carnegie
In the first game against Leeds Adel Carnegie, the team were unfortunate to concede an early goal and although an equaliser did not materialise, the girls gelled well together as a team.
Slazenger (0) vs. (4) Wakefield A
In the second against eventual group winners Wakefield A, despite the 0:4 result the experience the girls gained playing such a well structured side proved invaluable.
Slazenger (3) vs. (0)
By the final game the girls were playing well as a team with each individual player making a valuable contribution to the 3:0 victory. By finishing on such a positive note I hope we can take this into the YYHL tournament next Sunday on the 27th.
A special thankyou goes to Katie Brown who gave up her morning to support and umpire.
