Hi, Well, as quick as October came around, as has November (or should that be Movember?). The first social of the season is done and the league is well under way. This month 4 teams face off in Cup semi-finals, in addition to the ongoing league games. Can the ladies 2nds maintain their undefeated run? Will teams get to the cup finals? All exciting stuff…. |

The first social of the season was hosted at the club at the end of last month – the Halloween social event. It was a great night and there was some pretty great fancy dress going on… If you missed out, don’t worry – details of the next social are below. |
Christmas 7’s
Mark your callender for 17th December 2011. As has been tradition for many a year, the club (will attempt to) hold the annual sevens tournament. For the last two years this has been snowed off, but 2011 will be different(we hope). Its a chance to play some mixed hockey and have a bit of fun before Christmas. As usual, all senior players are welcome to play. More details will come closer to the time.
Club Kit
The club colours have been standardised for a long time, (avaliable here for those unsure). We understand that some people will buy kit of the matching colour outside of the club.
However, we realise that people may also want to get hold of some good quality playing kit through the club. Have no fear, such a wish is now granted! In addition to supplying team shirts, the club is selling shorts, skorts, socks, raincoats and new warm hoodies – perfect for the winter weather.
Simply download this SHC Kit order form, complete it and submit it with payment, and it will be taken care of.
Registration & Subs
Tony, our illustrius treasurer will be checking the records this month and working out who hasn’t registered or paid their subs. Be warned….
Registration is a simple form which needs to be filled in. It can be done online, which is automatically emailed to Tony (using the big button below), or if you dont trust “them internets” there is a printable form at this link which can be handed in to your team captain/ coach. Payment should be through cheque made out to “Slazenger Hockey club”, cash, or standing order (details are here). However, if you are using standing order, the first payment must be made ASAP.
MOVEMBER!
For those in the know, Movember is upon us. Men across the globe have dedicated this month to growing a moustache in order to raise awareness and funds for mens health, specifically specifically prostate and testicular cancer. Our very own Mens’ Chairman, James “Moog” Walker is donating his top lip to this worthy cause.
The money raised is channeled through the Movember Foundation to The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research, funding world class awareness, research, educational and support programs which would otherwise not be possible. If you can, please donate to Moogs efforts at here, where you can also find out more information about the organisation and the cause.
Calenders
Slazenger’s match fixture calenders are below for downloading. If you use a calender program on your computer, the top row of links will download the calender, for use with whatever program is in use (ICal, MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, etc). For users of Google’s online Calender app, the bottom link should import the calender to your account. Please note that if the master calender is updated online, changes may not be reflected in your version.
