Another unsunny day in Adel, but this did not dent the spirits of the Slazenger ladies 1st XI who have only had one game since November due to the bad weather. This break did not appear to have had a detrimental effect on the teams match fitness or skills.
Slazenger took the lead mid-way through the 1st half when Mandy Sowerby took on the defence single-handed to slot the ball home. Another followed from a short corner, again by Sowerby with a straight strike to the left of the keeper. Slazenger made it 3-0 at half time when Defender Kerry Inman-Rollin converted another short corner.
In the second half, Slazenger pushed on and were soon 5-0 up, with goals from Sarah Cooper who converted a rebound from Ailish Hendrys shot which hit the cross bar and Claire Mills also found the back of the net!. Adel then pulled a goal back in scrappy fashion to make it 5-1, before the game was rounded off with a splendid goal from captain Holly Tyers and a dubious short corner goal from Mandy Sowerby.
Final score was 7 – 1 to Slazengers and they regained there top spot of the Yorkshire Premier League with a game in hand on their nearest rival.
