Slazengers knew that this would be a tight game with Leeds in the top half of the table and with them being a very physical side. Slazengers pressed the Leeds defence from the off with a few near misses with Ailish Hendry hitting the post from a very skilful Tomohawk reverse. Sarah Cooper managed to connect with the rebound from the post and slotted it past the Leeds goal keeper.
Slazengers kept the pressure on knowing the One goal couldn’t secure the victory and Mandy Sowerby struck from the top of the D where Holly Tyers was waiting on the gaol line to lift it over the Defenders sticks that were guarding the line. By Half Time Slazengers were 2 Nil up and Leeds were getting rather aggravated.
Minutes into the second half Mandy Sowerby scored again with a well placed short corner strike into the right hand corner past the keeper. Shortly after this Leeds were down to 10 players as one of there strikers showed her frustration by kicking Slazenger Defender Kelly Whittham. Slazengers used this Sin Bin time to there advantage continuing to put there pressure on.
The game was sealed by a wonderful strike from just inside the D from Claire Mills who had been threatening to score throughout the game. This 4 nil win secures the top spot for another week. Next weeks game is against Boston Spa at home who are currently in second position.
