Slazengers mens first team travelled to Ben Rhydding mens thirds on Saturday looking to continue their good start to the season but in the end were lucky to come away with a 1-1 draw. Slazengers started on the back foot and didn’t really get going until well into the first half by which time Ben Rhydding had already taken the lead.Paul Wiper drew Slazengers level with an excellent reverse stick strike and pressed on looking for more but Ben Rhydding held out until the half time. During the second half, Ben Rhydding got on top and with Wiper getting little protection from the umpire it looked like Slazengers attacking threat wasn’t there.
Jonny White faught well in midfield but was lucky to stay on the pitch after a poorly mis-timed tackle and although Dan Perry and Jack Kitchen worked hard down the right, Slazengers couldn’t find a way through. The defence however helf firm and kept the scoreline to 1-1.
