Slazenger 2nds gained them their first win of the season – a 7-5 success at derby foes Wakefield 3rd’s.
Eddie Taylor drilled in the opener for Slazenger. Wakefield replied but four-star Tim Carr was on hand to put away Slazenger’s second.
Carr and Scott Croucher struck after the break to make it 4-1, and Carr completed his hat-trick after Wakefield had pegged on back.
Sloppy defence allowed Wakefield to level at 5-5, but Slazenger dug deep and goals from Croucher and Carr – his fourth – sealed the win in the dying seconds.
