Slazengers failed to turn lots of possession into goals when they took part in an U12 boys hockey tournament at Leeds on Sunday. Starting against York, newcomer James Bennertt quickly adapted to the pace of the game and caused problems in the opposing goalmouth, but it ended in a goalless draw.
Normanby Park were the best team in the group, but Slazenger acquitted themselves well with goal chances at both ends before going down 1-0. Not deterred, Slazengers approached the match with a physically larger Driffield in positive fashion and fine work from keeper Adam Davis saw them share the spoils in a goalless draw.
The scoreline remained blank against Kirklees, and the final match with Bingley was the biggest disappointment with more chances going begging before losing 1-0.
