In preparation for the resumption of their league programme, Slazenger enjoyed a fine win over Division 2 rivals Sunderland.
Youngster Richard Whawell enjoyed a rare run out in the firsts, opened the scoring after just two minutes and Keith Whittle doubled the lead two minutes later.
But Sunderland fought back with goals either side of Whittle’s second strike and scored again after a penalty from Slazenger’s Mark Swinden to make the score 4-3.
Another goal from Swinden and one from his brother, James secutred a creditable 6-3 triumph.
