After a great first half against Huddersfield fourths in which Slazenger thirds played some top class hockey, they faded badly in the second period to see another Yorkshire division 6 match slip away by the odd goal.
James Walker scored Slazenger’s opener following a short corner and the decisive tackling of Neil Hutchins gave them hope of victory.
However, Huddersfield took control of the game and they went into a 2-1 lead and although Simon Miller equalised for Slazenger it was the opposition’s stronger finish which earned them a 3-2 win.
On Saturday, the Thirds are at home to Ben Rhydding; 3:00pm
