Report: 10-11-2001 – Mens 2nd’s (1) vs. (2) Sheff Uni. Bankers

November 10, 2001 by Slazenger HC

Depleted Slazenger seconds made hosts Sheffield Bankers work hard for their 2-1 victory and the Yorkshire League 4 points. Andy Forman opened the scoring, but Slazenger were unable to capitalise fully on their advantage.Nevertheless, Slazenger retained their lead until ten minutes from time, but Sheffield equalised and five minutes later scored a scrappy second to leave the visitors feeling well and truly hard done by.

On a positive footing, the Slazenger defence played some of its best hockey of the season and man of the match Andy Pickles was outstanding which all bodes well for the remainder of the season.

Slazenger take on top of the table Harrogate thirds on Saturday, push back 3pm at home.
