Slazenger seconds gains a much needed victory with a 2-1 success over visitors Bradford thirds.
The game started at a furiouis pace with Slazenger just getting the better of the midfield skirmishes. Their reward was an opening goal for Richard Whawell off Gilston’s deflected shot.
The home side squandered a succession of gifted chances before Bradford broke and got a deserved equaliser.
Slazenger, however were in no mood to lose. And with Andy Forman, Ashley Smith and Jonny White bossing the middle of the field and man of the match Bob Wood dominating defence, there was little chance of victory for Bradford.
Slazenger forced numerous penalty corners and eventually were rewarded with a decisive second goal, scored by Matt Birkett off a glorious set-piece move.
