Early jitters gave way to a commanding performance by the third string that gained them a comprehensive opening day victory.
Slazenger were grateful to the work of defender Tony Sidwell and goalkeeper Thomas Penistone in those nervy stages.
John Sykes scored against the run of play from a short corner to set Slazenger or their way. And a second short corner goal from Graham Parker knocked some of the string out of the visitors.
Injuries forced Slazenger to change things around in the second half, but it seemed to work in their favour as they scored twice more through Sykes and skipper Geoff Birkett.
Lawrence Thornton had a fine debut game before being injured and Neil Hutchins also impressed. But man of the match honours went to Tony Sidwell for a faultless display at sweeper.
The thirds travel to Bradford on Saturday 3:15pm start.
