Slazenger’s last friendly before the league programme gets underway was return to winning ways and dazzling form for the Horbury outfit.
Slazenger turned out a performance reminiscent of last season’s championship winning form. Mark Swindon put them one up early on from a well-worked short corner routine, but Adel withstood further pressure to deny Slazenger further goals before half-time.
After fending off a brief rally, Slazenger scored a second midway through the second half through Mark Butel, who quickly added a second from another short corner routine. Swindon completed the scoring after good work by Butel and a fifth came courtesy of Nick Whittle, two minutes from time. Man of the match was Kev Windler.
All now looks good for the season and Saturday as Slazenger play Halifax in the first league match a home, 1:30pm.
