Report: 14-10-2000 – Mens 2nd’s (2) vs (2) Sheffield Bankers

October 14, 2000 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger seconds gained a hard-earned point from a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Bankers.

James Swinden and Andrew Birkett worked a neat one-two fir the latter to chip the goalkeeper for the opening goal.

Slazenger came back strongly but Slazenger dug in and then made the most of a defensive slip, Jonny White slotting home coolly.

After the break, the home side continued to dominate possession and eventually pulled a goal back and equalised in two crazy minutes though the second was scored off a controversial penalty flick.

Gritty defending by David Brogdan and Robert Wood backed up by inspired goalkeeping from Thomas Penistone ensured Slazenger conceded no more goals.
