DEPLETED SLAZENGER TRIUMPH IN THRILLER
Slazenger travelled to Hull without several regular members of its squad – not knowing the strength or abillity of this Division One University side.
The game itself was a harder fought contest than Slaz had anticipated or hoped for.
However, after Slaz had conceeded early on due to first game jitters and fierce pressure, they came back with a finely-tuned corner routine, which was struck home with some venom and accuracy by skipper Mark Butel.
The game continued with tit-for-tat posession, resulting in Hull scoring a second and man of the match Alec Gilston claiming a great goal straight after.
The second half saw Slaz dominating most of this period, with Gilston scoring from his second from a short corner, in report to Hull’s third.
In the last ten minutes, a fine solo drive and dribble from Haydn Foster resulted in goal number four – to help the Horbury men to a winning league start.
On Saturday, Slaz entertain Ramgharia, push-back 1:30pm.
