Ladies 3rd XI

Match Report

Slazenger Ladies 3s welcomed Warrington 1s for the first round of the cup and were pleased to have avoided the worst of the weather for what proved to be a challenging encounter.

Slazenger started positively against a strong Warrington side, battling hard and working well to retain possession. Central midfielders Lisa Minchella and Lauren Wood were particularly impressive, helping to keep Slazenger competitive and driving the team forward.

Despite determined efforts, Slazenger found themselves 2-0 down at half-time.

The second half saw Slazenger continue to fight hard, showing great determination and commitment to one another. The defence also began moving the ball around the back effectively, helping the team maintain possession and build play from the back.

Unfortunately, Warrington extended their lead with another goal, but Slazenger refused to give up. Their persistence paid off when they won a short corner. The initial drag flick was saved by the Warrington goalkeeper, but Minchella was on hand to pounce on the rebound and fire home, bringing the score to 3-1 and giving Slazenger a well-deserved goal.

Warrington had the final say, adding another goal to make the final score 4-1. Although the result didn't go Slazenger's' way, the team showed plenty of fight, teamwork and determination against tough opposition, with some encouraging passages of play to take forward into their next fixture.

Player of the Match was Lisa Minchella for her outstanding tackling, tireless work rate and ability to get everywhere on the pitch. She capped off an excellent performance with a cheeky goal to get Slazenger on the scoresheet!
