🏑 Slazengers Ladies 2s 0–0 Tadcaster 🏑
A hard-fought battle for the Ladies 2s, with both teams working hard in a competitive, goalless draw.
Slaz started positively, earning a couple of short corners and working hard to drive the ball up the pitch. Some well-positioned hit-outs helped create space and open up the game, while Tadcaster defence stayed strong to stop Slaz breaks.
The second half saw more determined attacking play from Tadcaster and some excellent battling in the D. Lauren produced two brilliant saves from a Tadcaster short corner, showing great reactions to deny the initial shot and the flicked rebound.
Slaz continued to work hard under sustained pressure, defending an incredible 10 short corners throughout the game. The defensive unit stood firm time and time again, showing resilience, teamwork and determination to keep the clean sheet.
Despite pushing forward and creating attacking pressure of their own, Slaz couldn’t quite find the breakthrough, finishing the match with a well-earned 0–0 draw.
👏 A fantastic defensive effort from the whole team. Plenty of grit, determination and teamwork on show! 💚🏑

Yesterday Slaz had their second home game of the season. From the first whistle the ball was being taken from end to end in what was a very equal playing field. Bella stopped Tadcaster striker in the D with a cheeky poach. This was followed by an attack from Slaz where Maisie did a great run getting past Tadcaster’s defence, though the strike on goal was saved in a spectacular dive by one of the remaining defenders. With no goals but a few questionable tackles from both sides, captains were called on by umpires to calm the game. First half continued end to end, with both teams having chances, with no success.
The second half continued much the same. Tadcaster had 2 short corners in a row, but Slazengers held strong and cleared both. It was then Slazenger’s turn for short corners, with 3 in a row, but again it was cleared by their defence. There was a great opportunity with a short pushed in by Alex to Stacey and a slip across to Kez; Kez struck hard and it deflected in the air, unfortunately Alex couldn’t bring it down on the pitch before passing the back line.
With 5 minutes left in the game and the 3 points all to play for, both teams were digging deep and battling hard. Slaz was awarded yet another short. Stacey this time slipped right to Ella who pushed with precision to bottom left hand corner to finally see the ball reach the back of the goal. Slaz continued to push hard for the reminder of the second half, to secure our 3rd victory. Final score 1-0 to Slaz.
Player went to defender Bella for amazing defending and diving on the line to save a goal.

Slaz had a fast start with a short corner very early in the game, which Slaz managed to capitalise on, scored by captain Alex from a deflected pass off Evie. Tadcaster fought back strong battling into our D. Following a hard hit by Tadcaster, the ball was battered into the top of our goal nearly hitting the defenders in the head. For the remainder of the second half, Slaz kept their heads up and were giving it their all, with some great chances up the wings.
Both teams came out hard in the second half, Slazenger’s had many short corners and chances to score but unfortunately couldn't get the ball in the back of the goal. Despite Slazenger’s being determined to get another goal, Tadcaster were quick at getting through our press, resulting in another shot on goal, which succeeded in reaching the back of the net. Slazenger with a full squad available were determined to start the game strong, and took the advantage of a free pitch before the game to have an intense warm up, lead by today’s captain Alex. The first half was fairly even between Slaz and Tadcaster, with both sides having chances on goal, but both defences stood strong. Tadcaster were first to break the deadlock, getting a lucky deflection off a defender on a short. Slazenger replied with a short corner goal of their own. Evie putting the ball in, fighting for it on the post.
Slazenger started the second half a bit slow and Tadcaster retook the lead, working around the Slazenger players with good one twos. This woke Slaz up, and they mounted some attacks of their own. Slazengers were awarded a flick after another good short corner, a Tadcaster foot on the line prevented Hannah scoring, but unfortunately the keeper made a good save and the game remained 2-1. Slaz kept pressing for an equaliser but unfortunately Tadcaster used the space created and hit Slaz in the break to cement the win. Slaz put their bodies on the line (especially Ni and her nose) but the game finished 1-3. Player went to Courtney for some excellent tracking back, winning the ball back numerous times.
