Slazenger fourths surrendered a 2-0 half-time lead and were eventually beaten 3-2 by Boston Spa thirds. Veterans Ian Gordon, capitalised on Slazenger's superiority with two first half strikes but the second period witnessed some fiercely fought hockey. Slazenger competed well with Si Killy and man of the match Ricky Wilby in outstanding form. High-riding Slazenger fourths made further progress up the Yorkshire Division 8 table with a success away to a strong Doncaster outfit. Report: 01-12-2001 – Men 4th’s (2) vs. (2) York

A weakened Slazenger fourths string travelled to York in fine sporits and were rewarded by a 2-2 draw. Mark Swinden scored twice before half-time to put Slazenger in a surprise, but commanding lead. York hit back in the second half and despite excellent work by man of the match James Walker in goal, Slazenger conceded two match levelling goals. Slazenger fourths suffered an unfortunate 3-0 reversal at Yorkshire League 8 rivals Boston Spa thirds. While the score line suggests otherwise, it was, in fact, a close encounter but Slazenger simply failed to capitalise on several good half-chances produced by the unstinting effort of Andy Auty and Richard Hutchins in midfield.
