A good second-half performance couldn't prevent Slazenger 3rd's from going down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Leeds 4th's. Slazenger’s third team entered this quarter final clash against Huddersfield, with confidence, after a resounding victory in the previous round, a confidence that was well founded and resulted in Slazenger’s coming away 4-0 victors. Slazenger’s thirds hosted local rivals Wakefield thirds on Sunday in the third team cup and produced a fantastic performance to run out 7-1 winners. Both teams were always going to be up for the game but it was Slazenger’s who struck first blood, Johnny Halliday striking a fierce short corner home. In a highly entertaining match between two evenly matched sides - Slazenger thirds and visitors City of York fifths a 1-1 draw was probably the fairest result. Slazenger moved the ball round nicely in the first half against York and had the best chance of the game, but failed to make it count.
