Doncaster

Report: 07-11-2015 – Mens 4th’s (0) vs. (6) Doncaster 6th’s

November 7, 2015 by Slazenger HC

Slaz 4s were finally at home after 4 weeks against a much more experienced Doncaster side which would prove to be a key factor.

In the first half Doncaster scored 2 goals which were deserved of the run of play as Slaz were constantly under pressure from a strong Doncaster attack.

Them after the break Slaz began to play better hockey and threatened the Doncaster goal with numerous short corners without an end product. Then in the last 20 minutes Doncaster ran riot as a very young Slaz side began to tire and conceded another 4 to bring the final score to 6-0.

Next week Slaz 4s are back on the road again with an away trip to Driffield.

Report: 31-10-2015 – Ladies 1st’s (4) vs. (0) Doncaster 2nd’s

October 31, 2015 by Slazenger HC

2015-10-31-L1 - Jessica_Rudge

Slazengers Ladies first team made it a hat-trick of wins this week against Doncaster Ladies 2’s. The surprisingly warm October weather made it a slow start, but Jessica Rudge scored the first goal thanks to some great team passing. Claire Dunstan was quick to follow with a strong hit to the bottom corner.

Although 2-0 up at half time, the team were not stopping there. Top goal scorers Claire and Jessica both got another goal each to make the final score a 4-0 victory. Some great play from goal keeper Tracy Lorriman, earned Slazengers a clean sheet. Lorriman shares man of the match with Alice Gascoigne who put in another solid performance.

October 10, 2015 by Slazenger HC

The 6-1 defeat against Doncaster did not reflect the commitment shown by the ladies 4th team who continued to give 100% until the final whistle.

Josie Hughes scored the much deserved goal in the second half.

Report: 19-09-2015 – Mens 3rd’s (2) vs. (6) Doncaster 5th’s

September 19, 2015 by Slazenger HC

The new look 3rd team had a tough encounter at Doncaster, eventually being run out 6-2.

The team were without a few key players, however the team played some fast flowing hockey in parts, putting the early pressure on. Doncaster scored first against the run of play, however the visitors fought back into the game, with an equaliser: Alan Perry crossing for Ian Hedges to score. At half time, it was Slaz who had the pressure and were making all the moves.

In the second half, the visitors continued the pressure. Debut player and man of the match Matthew Chilton, helped by Matt Feather and Anwar Al-Khaili controlled midfield. However against the run of play, Doncaster scored two in quick succession. Legs began to tire in the last 15 minutes, and Doncaster thought they had the advantage when they won a penalty flick, but keeper Darren Buttery saved it with ease.

Doncaster went on to score a further three in the final minutes of the game. Slazenger took a final consolation goal; a solo effort from Hedges, rounding several players and lobbing the keeper with a reverse shot from the edge of the circle.

For as new squad, the team can take a lot of positives away from a match where the scoreline didn’t tell the whole story.

February 28, 2015 by Slazenger HC

Slazengers hoped to get an easy win against struggling Doncaster. Things started off well when Sue Hope took a quick free hit and walked the ball straight into the goal without Doncaster realising the free hit had been taken.

Towards half time Doncaster had a goal disallowed from a short corner much to their dismay. The second half proved to be a battle for Slazengers to get another goal with the Doncaster goalkeeper providing some hope for the away team that was until an open play goal from Claire Dunstan sealed the deal and Doncaster appeared defeated.

Final score 2-0. Player of the match went to Hayley Wood.
