The first tournament of the season was a tough experience for Slazenger U12 Boys. After defeats to Driffield, Rotherham and L.A.Metros, Slazenger deserved to get something out of their final game against Ben Rhydding as player of the tournament, Adam Davis put in another assured performance in goal. But Slazenger were beaten by a single goal following a series of desperate goalmouth clearances. … [Read more...] about Report: 09-10-2005 – Boys U12 Tournament

Promoted, injury hit Slazenger made a bright start but were playing catchup from the tenth minute. A great strike from Julie Finch from a short corner was saved but Amy Smeaton touched the ball over the line to level. But Dewsbury went into the break 2-1 up with a carbon copy of their opening goal. Slazenger were indebted to their goalkeeper who kept them in with a shout until the third goal went in. Report: 01-10-2005 – Mens 4th’s (1) vs. (1) Bradford 3rd’s
Slazenger 4ths are a much-changed team this season, but the blend of youth and experience worked well against a strong Bradford side. The first half was evenly fought, with both sides failing to convert their opportunities into goals. Colt player Tessa Downs joined the squad for the first time this season, playing well on the left. Unfortunately for the home side, Captain Mills tore ligaments … [Read more...] about Report: 01-10-2005 – Ladies 2nd’s (1) vs. (1) Bingley Bees 2nd’s
Report: 24-09-2005 – Mens 3rd’s (1) vs. (3) Leeds 4th’s
A good second-half performance couldn't prevent Slazenger 3rd's from going down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Leeds 4th's. Excellent defending from Ashley Smith and some fine saves from Lee Secker kept rampant Leeds down to a three-goal lead at the break, but the switch to 4-5-1 at the interval paid off. Slaz turned on the style and a magical run from Jonny Halliday and further good work from Simon Taylor set up John Sykes, who netted with a magnificent reverse sweep effort. The midfield … [Read more...] about Report: 24-09-2005 – Mens 3rd’s (1) vs. (3) Leeds 4th’s
