Match Report
A disappointing weekend for the men’s 4th team as we travelled to Halifax where we suffered a 7-0 defeat. A tactical adjustment to a defensive 3 couldn’t prevent 2 first half goals from the home team. The second half had Slazenger 4s revert to a back 4 but the change couldn’t prevent Halifax from extending their lead to 7 before the final whistle.

REPORT: The first 10 minutes both teams were unsettled, with neither team taking ownership of the game. Something then finally kicked in and Slaz woke up and found their rhythm. There were a few beautiful triangles and runs up the line between Courtney and Lucy, where Slaz were knocking on Harrogate’s D. Finally half-way through the first half, Lucy passed a ball to Ni who made a beautiful run to the top D, sending the ball into a gap, which Maisie ran into, connecting and sending it rocketing into the goal.
Slaz continued their fierce attack and were awarded with a few short corners. After the first few failed attempts, Ella managed to convert a well executed short corner into our second goal of the game. Not long after half time whistle blew.
Second half, both teams were switched on but Harrogate began picking up the pace and put increasing pressure on Slaz players. Andrea was taking no prisoners, plucked a Harrogate ball from the air and went on a mad run up front. Gemma and Ella, also in defence, were not letting Harrogate capitalise on any advances. After a well battled second half, Slaz’s sustained pressure on Harrogate caused a forced error, leading to Nicci being rewarded with a goal. The remainder of the match saw breaks from both teams, but no further goals were scored. Final score finished 3-0.
Player went to Ella for fantastic defending and positioning.

In a challenging encounter against a young and dynamic Leeds University side, Slazengers 3s faced a tough defeat, losing 4-0. From the outset, it was clear that Leeds brought a level of speed, skill, and teamwork that put the Slazengers on the back foot.
Their well-drilled attacks consistently pressured the Slazengers' defence, leading to a series of frustrating moments for the home side. Despite the scoreline, there were some notable performances from Slazengers. Zoe Searson had a standout moment, demonstrating her tenacity in front of goal as her angled stick sent the ball flying into the net. In an unfortunate twist, her attempt to score resulted in an own goal.
The match also took its toll physically, with two Slazengers players suffering injuries. In the wake of these setbacks, Thea Godson stepped up admirably, filling in at centre midfield and earning the Player of the Match award for her relentless work rate and composure under pressure.
Defensively, Lisa Minchella remained a consistent force, showcasing her skills as she thwarted several Leeds attacks with her solid tackling and strategic positioning. On the wing, Evie Mollart made several impressive runs, trying to spark some offence and create opportunities for her teammates. Slazengers continued giving it their all to the end.
