U12 Boys Match Reports
Game 1 v Doncaster
Charlie and Louis in defence tried hard to stop the attacks but despite some great saves from Nikolai, the Doncaster team quickly scored two goals. Noah, Alistair and Zach worked tirelessly in midfield to stop the attacks. Ollie came on in midfield and Zach stepped back into defence with Charlie and they tackled strongly but the team struggled to create chances in attack. The boys played well to keep the score down, the game ended 0-2.
Game 2 v Harrogate
The game started with super save from Nikolai. Slaz defended a short corner well and cleared the ball but could not get out of their defensive half. Another brilliant save from Nikolai to kept us in the game but Harrogate continued to apply the pressure and scored making it 0-1 which was a fantastic result against a strong team.
Game 3 v Leeds
Slaz started the game well with Charlie and Ollie in defence both making some strong tackles. Noah, Louis and Alistair worked hard in midfield. Matthew tried hard in attack and was unlucky to not score. Zach came on in midfield to support the team in both attack and defence, his strong passes set the team off in attack numerous times. Noah showed some true Slaz spirit in this game resulting in him putting Slaz ahead and ended the game 1-0.
Game 4 v Thirsk
Following on from the last game, Slaz continued to play well and had a strong start. Alistair showed off his silky skills on the wing, speedily passing the opposition. The team created a number of chances and were unlucky to not score. Charlie and Ollie continued to play well in defence, stopping any opposition chances and set the team off in attack. Louis worked hard on the wing when he came on but it was Noah who scored after a good interception and secured a second win for the team. Well done Noah!
The boys finished third in today’s tournament so will remain in Division 2 for the next tournament. Player of the tournament went to Charlie today for his hard work in defence, he made some crucial tackles today and also had some lovely runs up the pitch. Thanks again to Ollie Leonard for umpiring today, and Keith for managing the team.
U12 Girls Match Reports
Match 1 vs Ben Rhydding 1 (Result: 2-1 Win (Scorers: Edie & Darcie))
Slazengers started slow, allowing Ben Rhydding an early lead, but quickly found their rhythm. Lillianna, Katie, Izzy, and Ella worked tirelessly in defense, while Ella and Georgie made crucial tackles. Up front, Edie and Darcie were key in the attack. Edie scored the first goal, deflecting a ball mid-air, while Darcie sealed the win with a top-corner strike from the top of the D.
Match 2 vs Leeds 1 (Result: 1-4 Loss (Scorer: Edie))
A fast-paced, challenging match saw Slazengers fall behind early. Edie equalized with a powerful shot from a wide angle, but despite great attacking efforts from Darcie, Edie, and Eleanor, further goals proved elusive. In defense, Izzy, Katie, and Jess worked hard, with Lillianna commanding her D. Despite their best efforts, Leeds broke through.
Match 3 vs Thirsk 1 (Result: 1-0 Win (Scorer: Darcie))
Slazengers showed solid teamwork and defensive strength, keeping Thirsk at bay. In a key moment, a short corner led to Darcie’s game-winning goal, a powerful shot into the backboard after trying to avoid receiving the ball initially!
Match 4 vs York 1 (Result: 0-0 Draw)
Fatigue began to show, but the girls battled hard to maintain a clean sheet. Lillianna was busy in goal, while Izzy and Katie made vital tackles. Despite strong efforts from Georgie, Jess, Edie, Eleanor and Darcie, York’s defense held firm, preventing any goals.
