U10 Boys – Yorkshire and North East Finals
The boys are officially the 7th best team in Yorkshire and North East after playing today in the England Hockey U10 In2Hockey Yorkshire and North East Cup at Leeds.
The boys did so well to qualify for the cup and they played so exceptionally well today against some top teams including keeping both York and Ben Rhydding to 1-0 loss. They confirmed their spot in 7th after a 2-0 win against Leeds Adel. It has been a wonderful end to the season and to finish 7th out of all the teams in Yorkshire and North East is a such a great achievement especially when so many of the players have another year (or two) left to play at u10 level. Both Nikolai and Zach played their last games as U10s today before they move up permanently to the U12s in September.
Well done boys, Gemma and I were super proud of you all today and thanks parents for your continued support
U10 Girls Yorkshire and North East Cup Finals
The U10 girls were out today, with Katie, Georgina, Hollie & Lydias last U10’s tournament, alongside newcomer Florence as her first & last u10s tournament as they all move up to u12’s next year.
Despite the knock that Edie couldn’t play after her success with U12s, the girls came out fighting. A strong start in their group stage beating both Tynedale and Northallerton. The final match against Hull was tough a we lost in the last few minutes, as the ball snuck through. This left us playing Morpeth, a strong side – who went on to win. Unfortunately, despite battling hard the girls had a few injuries leaving us with a loss. Playing for 3rd/4th place – back against Hull, the girls bounced back and worked really hard. Despite continued pushing up the match stay 0-0 for the majority – until the last minute from a short corner Katie channeled Edie’s spirit scoring a cracking goal, top corner of the net from a wide angle (proud mum moment).
All the girls played incredible. Special call out to Florence first tournament, such drive and energy was brilliant to see. Player went to Katie for the dancing goal and non stop battling throughout.
I’m so proud of all the girls this season, it’s been my absolute pleasure to coach them. I’ve loved all the highs and lows, the resilience the girls have built and fantastic hockey they’ve all played. They’ve all come on so much this season! Well done all the girls should have their heads held high to achieve what they’ve achieved this season – 3rd out of all North East & Yorkshire, 1st out of Yorkshire league & Play Offs – what an achievement!! Thank you to all the lovely parents who came out in the miserable weather that we had all day, apart from the presentation when the sun came out.
