Ladies 2nd’s (3) vs. (0) Selby 1st’s
This week slaz 2’s travelled to Selby. With Captain Phe away, Vice Alex took the reins to lead the team. After a motivating team talk Slaz, for once, started really well exuding skill and positivity. The defence were immediately solid and foiled any attempts by Selby to penetrate our D. Sometime went on and neither team capitalised with a goal. Unfortunately, in the dying minutes of the first half, there was a frantic scramble on the Slaz goal line, which had both GK Tracy and defender Michelle on floor battling, but Selby managed to sneak the ball across the line.
After a regroup Slazengers started the second half again well with attacks from Gemma, Evie and Laura really mounting the pressure. Selby held strong and scored on the break, but Slaz kept their heads high and were setting to not give up. Defender Michelle even fancied an attacking run at one point, showing her fighting mentality. Despite multiple shots in the Selby D, Slaz just couldn’t score, and Selby managed to get another one past us after some good team play and an even better strike. Final score, 3-0 to Selby. Player of the match this week went to Michelle for fantastic defending, tackles and determination.
