U12 Boys
U12 boys played their finals day today at Doncaster and came out as winners.
We had a great turn out with all 10 players available. The first game was against a strong Grimsby team, who were more clinical to covert their changes and came out 2-0 winners.
The Slaz boys regrouped and were ready to put the first game behind them. Against Chapeltown, they took an early lead through a goal from Will. This gave the boys the confidence to start playing some brilliant passing hockey and goals from Owen (2), Declan and Seth quickly followed.
The game against Sheffield Hallam was very one sided with plenty of scoring changes for Slazenger, and they were unlucky not to get one in.
The semi final was against Chesterfield, who took the lead. The Slaz players kept their believe they could win and kept working hard. A short corner given just before the final whistle put the pressure on. But the team handled it brilliantly by scoring through Ally.
The boys had earned the change to make the final through shuffles. George H was ready in goal. Owen stepped up to take the first shuffle 1-0, Chesterfield scored 1-1. Aleks was cool in his finish 2-1, while George forced the Chesterfield player wide still 2-1. Seth stepped up for our final shuffle and calmly passed it round the GK 3-1.
The boys were certainly calmer under the pressure than the parents on the side line 
The final was against Grimsby, a re-match of the first game. Slazenger started strong and took an early lead through Aleks. It was clear to see how great teamwork can win you games. The boys were strong throughout with some very calm defending by Jack, George G and some outstanding play from Harry with George H keeping yet another clean sheet. The scenes of elation at the final whistle, by players, coaches & parents, were amazing and fully deserved.
Normally the boys have one vote each to select their ‘Player of the Tournament’ but today they collectively decided not to award it to one player but to them self as a team

U10 Girls
It was the last tournament of the season for the u12 girls. This last tournament was the league play offs. The A team were playing in Leeds and finished 3rd with Amelia getting player of the tournament for her strong performance. The B team were at Slaz and finished 4th with Beth getting player of the tournament for her incredible hattrick. The C team were also at Slaz and finished 5th with Daisy getting player of the tournament for her solid performance in defence.
Special thanks to Kirsty and Nicola for managing the B & C team. Thanks to Carlos Wilsonez for being chief scorer. And final thanks to Ollie Leonard for umpiring at Slaz.
Kids v Parents in a few weeks…I think the parents should be very afraid!
