U10 Boys
The U10 boys were in Doncaster today and looking to build on their recent good results, and boy, they did not disappoint.
With a rearrangement of the leagues, the boys were playing a couple of teams from a higher league, but this did not phase them, playing 6, winning 2, drawing 3 and losing 1, finishing 3rd in the overall table.
To show just how far these amazing boys have come on over the last few months, our last game was against Rotherham, who had won their previous 5 games, scoring 11 and conceding 0. We only went and beat them 1-0 😍
In goal yet again today was Nikolai, who constantly played with a smile on his face. He was rarely called into action, but when he was, he showed just how confident he is becoming in goal, making some crucial saves and great clearances.
We tried a new defensive partnership today with the ever dependable Alfie, playing alongside Charlie Leonard, and it is fair to say they could not have put in a better defensive performance. The opposition teams had their work cut out to get anywhere near our goal, and this was evident with us only conceding 1 goal in the whole tournament, having the joint best defensive record.
With George missing today, we needed to juggle the midfield, with Harry Lockwood taking the left midfield role, and he did not dissapoint, making some great runs and great passes. Noah continued in his role of the right of midfield, and again showed some great running down the line and into the D, constantly causing the opposition defence problems. Charlie Hammond continued in the centre of midfield and, even if I say so myself, ran the show in most games, working tirelesley and constantly driving at the opposition defenders, linking up well with Owen, andalso scoring a goal too.
Owen again led the line and also worked tirlesley throughout the tournament, and was a constant threat with his skill and driving runs. Owen got the goal that beat Rotherham and the smile on his and all the boys faces at the end of the game, was something that will stay with me for a long time.😊
The subs used today were Charley Thomas, who for me, gave his best performances to date, showing more composure and confidence on the ball. Ethan came on in a number of positions to help the team through the day, and even though did not feel comfortable in midfield, adapted well, putting in some strong performances. Last but certainly not least was Harry S, who like Charley, showed his best performances to date, playing on both the right and left wing, but also getting stuck in with some good challenges throughout the games.
Player of the tournament today was Charlie Hammond, which was very well deserved due to his overall performances and goal.🏆🏑 Super proud of you all 😊🏑
U10 Girls
Our super U10s girls were back out playing today and did the club proud!
The U10s A team were playing in Div 1, hoping to maintain their position at the top! The team demonstrated why they deserved to be top; they scored 13 goals during their 5 games today including one 8-0 thriller!
There were some super goals today from our forwards; Sophie (3), Beth (2) and Edie (3). Special mention to Edie who worked so hard today scoring her first ever hat-trick! Rosie worked tirelessly in midfield often having two opposition marking her but still dominated and scored two. The defence of Lorna and Amelia worked well together ensuring the opposition couldn’t penetrate the D. Amelia momentarily forgot she was a defender also scoring 3! For the first time ever this season, we conceded a goal but Amie (GK) was solid as ever. Player of the tournament went to our youngest in the A team – Edie
The B team were playing in Div 3 and also finished top! So promotion for the next tournament!!
The team played some brilliant hockey today, clearly the hard work at training has paid off! Jess, Heidi, Harriette made some excellent runs with the ball and had some great shots (and goals)! Pheobe was solid in midfield supported by Matilda who despite playing in a new position was solid throughout all the games. Both Ruth and Angel in defence worked hard together bossed about by Lillianna (GK)! Player of the tournament went to Angel for her consistent performance in defence
The C team (my littlies) were also playing in Div 3 and made me so proud!!!
Despite playing kids who are 3/4 years older, they are never fazed and try their hardest! Cerys, Darcie, Alistair and Martha were fantastic, they made some brilliant runs and worked hard to get the ball. Isabella in midfield worked well both attacking and defending, scoring goals too! The defence of Katie and Matthew worked together closing down the opposition and clearing the ball out to the wings. And Savannah (GK) was utterly fantastic today and was player of the tournament, she had such improved confidence and made some brilliant saves!
Thanks to all the coaches, umpires and score keepers today; it is very much appreciated!
