The Mens 1sts travelled to Hull Uni 1sts for an inconvenient and inhospitably late match against the students. The hosts scored a consellation goal, but Slaz were always in control.

The Men's 2nds hosted travelling side Acomb 1st's for a good battle at the Southfield pitch. The two sides were locked at 0-0 for the entire first half. Slaz enjoyed much of the possession, however a strong back line pairing from Acomb ensured hard work for the Slazenger front line. Paired with some sub-par shooting, and it the home side were unable to convert their chances. Acond similarly had several attacking opportunities, but the home side defensively played well and goalkeeper Will Parish pulled off some notable saves to keep it all level at the half time whislte.
In the second half, the home side continued to press and again struggled to convert. However, the combination of Amir Khalil and Ian Hedges linked up well down the left side, setting up Hedges for a reverse strike to net the only goal of the game (much to the surprise of those on the terraces!). Both sides continued to battle but the single goal separated the teams at full time.

Match Report
In atrocious weather, the worst thing Slazenger Men’s Threes could have done was to take an early lead against high-flying Tadcaster. This despite conceding an early goal. 2-1 up after 5 minutes, with goals from Andy Fisher and Jordan Ingham, this merely spurred the opposition into action who then proceeded to score with clinical regularity. Most arose from shots on goal which were deftly deflected into the net by players, all too often, left unmarked at the far post.
Despite being placed under constant pressure by a confident, skilful team, Slazengers continued to compete, working tirelessly to offer a goal-threat themselves. Eventually their efforts were rewarded with further goals by Fisher and Ingham, with Emmett ………. adding a fifth late in the second half. Unfortunately, despite the sun made a belated appearance, the game was well beyond them. Final score 10-5 to Tadcaster.

Slazengers Ladies 1s- 15 wins in a row? Will anyone stop them?
Saturday saw the the ladies 1s take on Ben Rhydding at home.
With spirits high and a strong game plan it didn’t take long for the first goal to come. A team effort that was finally put away by Melissa Lambert.
In fierce competition for top scorer, Hannah field wanted in on the action and it didnt take long for her to slot on past the Ben Rhydding goal keeper. However, one wasn’t enough, shortly after she sent another one into the top corner of the goal.
Jessica Rudge clutching on to top goal scorer position couldn’t let Hannah have all the glory and was soon to get on the score sheet after a week executed short corner. This was shortly followed by a slick goal from Sarah Cooper. 5-0 to Slazengers at half time.
A, not uncommon, steady start to the second half saw Ben Rhydding sneak a goal in but it didn’t take long for slaz to get back in the game. Another beautiful assist to Ellie Page from work horse Tyrrell, saw the ball in the back of the goal once again.
Keen to stay at the top of the table and get the goal difference up, slaz weren’t happy with their 6-1 lead and continued to dominate. The defence of Minchella, Wallace, Jones, Birch and superstar GK Erin kept Ben Rhydding at bay.
With some beautiful passes through the midfield of Field, Swindon, Fawdington-Fisher, Lambert and Page the attack was on. A speedy ball from Field met Coops in the D who deflected it pay the keeper for our 7th goal. This was shortly followed by another deflection from Rudge. Could Slazengers beat the 8 goals they score again BR in an earlier game in the season?
Keen for a goal, both Tyrrell and Defender Jones wanted in on the action. A short corner in the last play of the game had to be settled by a game of Rock Paper Scissors. Captain Rudge won and executed a lovely drag flick that was saved by BRs goal keeper but landed in the line of Jones who was so keen for a goal she missed the ball in her attempts. 8-1 to Slaz. Can we continue our winning streak, stay tuned to find out.

This week Slazenger Ladies 2s travelled to Harrogate, to play Harrogate Ladies 3s. Despite the windy conditions, Slazenger 2s were quick on the ball with some fast passes and 1-2s around Harrogate's players. Eventually, Slazengers gained some breakthroughs into the opposition's d; however this resulted in no goals scored. Although Slaz's efforts were uncanning they were caught slacking during the closing minutes of the first half. To this Harrogate seized as an opportunity, scoring twice within the final minutes.
Starting the second half, Slaz didn't let the goals denote their moods or their playing. Therefore, continuously playing with some brilliant hits to the attacking half. This allowed a more attacking play to Slazengers - in spite of this there were still no goal insight - whilst the defense still held strong. Despite these efforts, Harrogate found breakthroughs in Slazenger's playing, allowing them to add another 2 goals to the scoreboard.
This finalised the score to 0-4 to Harrogate Ladies 3s; but an amazing team effort by Slazengers Ladies 2s.

Match Report
The Development team’s performances have been building steadily over the last few games, culminating in the first win of the season this week against a well-drilled Ben Rhydding side.
Slazenger’s dominated for large parts of the game, with the majority of the first half being played in the Ben Rhydding half of the pitch. The midfield of Amar Khalil, Kurtis Holliday, Zach Parkinson and Oliver Ford controlled the game, creating goal scoring chances for Owen Coughtrey and Aleks Thompson, whilst Curtis Jones continually created problems for the Ben Rhydding defence on the right wing. It was Zach Parkinson however, who scored two great first half goals, skilfully beating the defence on both occasions to give Slazenger’s a commanding 2-0 half time lead.
Ben Rhydding found their feet a little in the second half and pushed more into Slazenger territory, but strong defence from Dan Bailey, Connor Browett, Bella Kidd and great keeping from Jack Hancock kept them at bay. Slazengers created chance after chance to put the game beyond Ben Rhyddings reach, but could not find the net. Ben Rhydding scored a consolation goal late in the second half, from a short corner which deflected off a Slazenger stick, but could not find the equaliser and Slazenger’s came out the well-deserved 2-1 victors.
U10 Boys
The U10 boys were away from home for the first time today, travelling to Chesterfield for their latest tournament. They did very well in the awful weather conditions, which eventually led to the tournament being cut short. 🌧
In the 3 games played, they drew 2 and narrowly lost 1 (almost the last hit of the game ).
Nikolai Fleming was yet again in goal, and was very rarely called into action, although when required, Nikolai showed how confident he was, clearling the ball with some great kicks.
A few outfield formation changes meant that some of the boys were playing out of their normal position, but all adapted really well. Harry Lockwood played in defence and did not look out of place, making some excellent tackles and crucial clearances. Alongside Harry, was Alfie McAlinden, who gave his usual strong performance, keeping the opposition attakers at bay, making some match saving tackles.
Moving into Midfield, we saw Noah Saunders start for the first time, and he looked like he’d been playing there for months, working hard to win the ball and driving down the right wing, causing problems for the opposition defence. Charlie Hammond and George Buckley completed the midfield, with George looking to boss the midfield with some great defensive tackling and confident dribbling. Charlie worked hard, showing great confidence in his running & dribbling, quickly turning defence into attack and linking up with Owen Wiper. Owen again led the line very well up front, constantly being a threat to the opposition and grabbing yet another goal.
Eagerly waiting to get onto the pitch from the side-lines today were Harry Swinden, Ethan Walker and Dominic Grimshaw, who was making his first appearance for the team. All played very well when they came on and showcased exactly what they have to offer the team in the future.
Well done to all the team. You all played fantastically well, especially in such poor weather, and we will look to build on today as we look forward to the next tournament. 🏑 Myself and Will are super proud of you all. 👏😊 No picture today as we quickly took cover from the weather after the games.🥶🌧
