It’s come around to that time of the year again, when the junior season starts up. This letter is aimed at giving you some information about the new season.
Before I begin however, it is worth noting that this club runs because of the generous time and effort of many parents and players, much of which go unseen. However, in order to keep the club running, we need new people to volunteer every season. Whether that’s collecting money, writing a match report, picking up cones at a coaching session, handing out membership forms or flipping a burger at a BBQ, every contribution of time helps make the club better for everyone! Without these contributions, there is always the chance that the club will be unable to accommodate as many players, or offer the range of opportunities it currently does. So if you have some time to volunteer no matter how much, please talk to a coach or member of the committee.
Membership
Membership costs will continue in their simplified format this season, meaning that membership for any under 18’s player will cost £30. We have also applied a flat £200 cap for those who have multiple playing parents and children.
Please remember that all Under 18 players will be required to complete a new membership form along with payment. For all returning players, we ask that you complete membership forms and payment as soon as possible, as it really helps us to run the section. There will be extra people on hand for the first few weekends of the season to help with any forms, membership, kit, training and any other questions you may have.
Code of Conduct
For the 2017-18 season, it will be a requirement for all junior players and parent/guardian to sign the new code of conduct as part of registration; a common practice in other sports. We believe that this helps everyone understand their responsibilities as members of the club, and helps us to continue to develop players and the section.
Training
This season, training will continue the same as last season finished (beginning on Sunday 10th September). After the success of last season, we will continue to run an under 8’s training session, with the lower age limit being 6 years old. For anyone younger, please get in contact with me to discuss. We have also agreed that in order to accommodate more younger players, all children attending the first session every Sunday morning (Under 8 & 10’s) will require a parent or nominated parent (i.e. a friends parent) to be present throughout the session.
Sunday (9:15 – 10:30am); All Under 8’s, All Under 10’s, U12 Girls
Monday (8-9pm); Under 14 Girls, All Under 16’s
Tuesday (6-7pm); Under 12 Boys, Under 14 Boys
Kit
We will continue to be sponsored by Yorkshire Catering Equipment Ltd (yce.co.uk), who are sponsoring the entire club. This allows us to maintain shirt prices at £10 each. The new shirts, along with a full range of playing kit can be purchased throughout the season. Sample sizes for all kit will be available to try at training sessions.
New players
As the season begins we are looking for new players to join the club at all age ranges, but especially at the younger end (U8, U10 & U12’s). As usual, new players get 3 free sessions to give it a go, and we can provide sticks. So if you know someone, why not recommend they come down and try it out!
Keeping Up To Date
You can keep up to date with goings on at the club throughout the year using the following locations. I encourage you to subscribe / regularly check them out if you use any of the services; we do our best to keep members of the club informed as much as possible and these are great places to find out more.
