The girls u14 team had a great morning of hockey at Leeds Grammar school, despite the weather!!
Their first game saw them take an early lead against Brigg. Their goal was soon cancelled out when Brigg broke through the defence to equalise, however Slazenger never gave up and managed a further 2 goals to leave the final score 3:1.
Their second game against Driffield 2 caught the girls somewhat off guard and conceded 2 early goals. Their determination then kicked in, which resulted in them pulling one back. The last 10 minutes of the game were spent in Driffields defensive half of the pitch, but despite a number of chances and excellent attacking play Driffields defence stayed strong and denied them the equaliser which would have been well deserved. Final score 2:1
Slazengers dominated in their final game against Sheffield 2, great defensive play meant that Sheffield never had an opportunity near the goal. Slazengers had many chances – converting 3 left the final score 3:0.
The girls played so well as a team that it would be difficult to single out individuals, however special mentions go to Abigail Render, Izzy Bibby and Bella Thompson who all made fantastic debut performances for the team.
