Slazenger Ladies 2s faced top of the league Selby for their return fixture. Slazenger had previously lost to Selby 4-0 so the team knew that they were in for a tough match especially with half of their regular squad missing.
The Slazenger defence held on for the first 20 mins of the opening half but conceded with a goal from open play. Slazenger had frequent breaks but unfortunately could not convert. Selby continued their onslaught and the end of the first half resulted in 3-0.
Slazenger re-organised their defensive strategy for the second half which worked as no further goals were conceded – final result 3-0. A stunning performance from keeper Lizzie Tunstall resulted with her being awarded player of the match and special mention goes to the 3rd/4th team players who stepped up to help out and Donna Slack for stepping out on the field only 6 weeks after giving birth to her first child.
Amazing inner strength from a true Slaz player – well done Dons!
