Report: 26-10-2013 – Ladies 4th’s (2) vs. (4) Sheffield Uni Bankers 3rd’s

October 26, 2013 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger started strong in their first ever cup game. The midfield was controlled well by Hetty Walker and Emma Claughton and Slazenger were unlucky to go down 0-1. Slazenger had some well worked attacking changes but were unable to score. SUBHC scored once more. But an excellent free hit from Diane Jones and a superb finish from Jess Downing gave Slazenger a well deserved goal.

After half time Slazenger continued to play strong, and earned 2 short corners which they were unable to convert into goals. SUBHC scored 2 more goals in short succession. But that didn’t stop Slazenger playing well and working hard as a team. This was rewarded with another short corner. Player of the match, Alice Gascoigne push out brilliantly and Ingrid Coughtrey scored with an excellent strike in the left corner. That was to be the last play of the game, and the final score was 2-4.
