Report: 05-01-2013 – Mens 1st’s (3) vs. (1) Old Malton 1st’s

January 17, 2013 by Slazenger HC

Slaz we missing a few players so asked a couple to step up and prove themselves, which they did with vigour.

Man of the match Jack Mumford who scored 2 goals and sealed the win had a great game causing confusion and error in the opposition D. The whole team played well and used every player to move the ball around and pull the Old Malton side apart. This was a great achievement for Slaz as this is a bogey side Slaz have struggled against for years.

The midfield worked hard and through themselves about the pitch causing more distress for the opposition. Slaz went ahead through a well worked effort from Danny Perry and Mumford. However, Old Malton always looked threatening and equalised in the second half. The Slaz defence had a good game with no fatal errors. Keeper James Cowden also had a great game keeping his head and his legs closed and making some fine saves. An impressive solo effort from Mark Swinden netted the second to nudge the team ahead, and a second from Mumford wrapped the game up.

Old Malton battled hard and pushed Slaz to the final whistle always looking dangerous, but Slaz held off for the final score of a 3-1 win.
