After last week’s great result Slaz went into the game with high hopes. A strong Chapeltown side were made to defend hard for the first part of the game and the home team were very unlucky not to score in several 1 on 1 attempts.
Player of the match Katie Firth made a welcome return to midfield with an outstanding first half performance denying Chapeltown access to their right channel.
Despite the good start, the game soon took a turn for the worse when Slaz were punished twice in the space of 6 minutes against the run of play. This boosted Chapeltown confidence and left Slaz somewhat shell shocked.
Changes to the formation helped Slaz to contain Chapeltown a little better after the half time break. Happily no further goals were conceded in an evenly matched second half but Slaz were also unable to convert further chances and ended the game with the same score as half time. Next week sees Chauffeur Mills taking the team to Driffield on the minibus, hopefully to fare a bit better!
